Stakeholder Capitalism is Key for Business to Thrive

This is a critical read for any business leader and certainly for all sustainability/ ESG professionals.

In the HBR piece, Paul Polman and Andrew Winston remind us all of the commitment the business community made back in 2019 to lead our companies to the benefit of all stakeholders, *not* just shareholders, to move from shareholder capitalism to stakeholder capitalism.

Why? It makes business sense: for your business to be resilient and thrive in the long term, you'll need a healthy planet, strong talent, happy customers, consistent suppliers, as well as a supportive community and committed shareholders.

Despite this earlier commitment and precisely at a time during which we need accelerated action, the enthusiasm and dedication toward a stakeholder focused economic system, seemed to have waned for a variety of reasons.
